Upgrading from 6.02 to 6.5
The 6.5 licenses have been pre-generated, so you just have to use Get License > Download License in the License Manager. Or go to the Customer Portal.
If Download License and the Customer Portal do not have your 6.5 license, please contact license AT softimage DOT com.
If Download License gives an error, try clicking Manage Key Database > Rename Key Database, and then try download your license again.
To check what license was downloaded, click Manage Key Database > List Keys.
Upgrading From Foundation to Essentials
When you upgrade from Foundation to Essentials, you have to switch over to the dongle licensing system. First, you have to change the DONGLE_TYPE setting in the SPM configuration file (Foundation uses SLP, but Essentials uses SI0). Then you have to rename your key database (basically, this uninstalls your SLP license so you can install your SI0 license without getting the famous Wrong SYSTEM ID error).
To configure SPM to use a dongle:
- Start the License Manager (click Start > All Programs > Softimage Products > License Manager).
- Click Edit Config File
- Change DONGLE_TYPE from SLP to SI0 (that is S-I-zero).
- Click Save.
To rename the key database:
- Click Manage Key Database.
- Click Rename Key Database.
To download your Essentials license:
- Click Get License.
- Click Download License.
